A project I’m working on with a friend is going to require me to learn a lot about drawing and painting backgrounds for animation. I know enough perspective to get by pretty well when it comes to setting things up and scaling, but I have no real painting skill and I have no idea what the pipeline is like for developing backgrounds–what software is used, how character and BG color is coordinated etc. Does anyone know a good place (YT channel, book, etc.–whatever you can think of) to start learning the basics?
Thanks a ton! I d seen some of urbanowitcs’ stuff before, but not the other channel. Time to get to watching.
Hey man, I see you need some help with backgrounds and I feel I can help. I am new to the site but know a lot about painting in general. I actually do illustrations, concept art, paintings, comics etc. I from my own opinion I have to recommend watercolor paint. You get the coolest look and feel to your animation when it is done with watercolors. You get the classic look that I honestly adore. If you want to get in touch with me I would love to show you some tips and trick on it. https://www.twitch.tv/ehlert101 this is my twitch and i stream from 8-12pm most night if you want to watch and talk to me at the same time.
